The Evolution of the AVA Crown

AVA Crown - the one crown

The AVA Crown was a concept conceived in early 2022 when we were exploring ideas to create a unique and one-of-a-kind award for our Pro champions to celebrate their incredible achievements.

The inaugural version took the shape of a golden wreath, inspired by the classic Olympic laurel wreath for its prestige and elegance. In the fall of 2022, Amr Ghoneim became the first recipient of the AVA Crown, signifying the debut of our prototype and establishing the first-of-its-kind award in the world of jiu-jitsu tournaments.

Looking ahead to the 2023 season, we embraced a bolder, darker aesthetic to further enhance the AVA Crown. An exclusive crown was designed for the newly introduced Ultra tournament that year. The set, comprising the crown, title belt, and medal, was themed around “the black hole” to maintain consistency.

The new Ultra crown was initially inspired by Gothic architecture with lots of details but it naturally evolved into a simpler, more geometric design. Moving on from the previous season’s handcrafted golden piece, a black 3D-printed approach was chosen to improve its quality. After several prototypes and adjustments, this revamped and more impactful crown was unveiled in October 2023 at the AVA Ultra Tournament, receiving positive response from the audience.
