How THRONE Works
THRONE is AVA’s invitational fight night event and the pinnacle of the competitive season. It is where season-long performance determines which athletes earn the opportunity to compete for official AVA titles. The event is centered on ranked athletes within the AVA ranking system. Exhibition matches are the sole exception and are open to all interested athletes of any age or rank, serving as a platform to spotlight emerging and local talent.
Throughout the season, athletes compete in title qualifiers at AVA tournaments. Placement points are earned through podium finishes, with different tournaments carrying specific placement point multipliers based on event level. Rankings are tracked separately for each title pathway and are cumulative, reflecting performance across the entire season rather than a single event. Athletes who finish the season at or near the top of their qualifier division earn an invitation to THRONE.
There are 3 official AVA titles: Throne Title for adults, Legendary Title for masters, and Rise Title for youth.
Throne Title
The Throne Title represents the highest level of competition in the federation for adult athletes. The #1 ranked athlete from the Throne qualifier division is invited to challenge the reigning title holder on the main card.
In the event the title holder withdraws from the title fight, the #1 and #2 ranked athletes from the Throne qualifier will be invited to compete for the vacant title. The Throne Title is awarded once per season and defended annually. Ranking points carry forward from season to season, diminishing by 50% after one year and expiring to 0 after 2 years.
Legendary Title
The Legendary Title is the title pathway for athletes aged 30 and older and is divided into the following age groups: 30+, 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, and 75+. Athletes must qualify by competing in the Legendary qualifiers throughout the season. The first title holder in each age group will be determined by a match between the #1 and #2 ranked athletes from those qualifiers. Once established, the Legendary Title follows the same seasonal structure as the Throne Title, with titles defended annually and ranking points expiring after 2 years.
Rise Title
The Rise Title is AVA’s elite youth title pathway for athletes ages 4 to 17. Rise divisions are matched solely by weight class, regardless of age or rank. Athletes qualify by competing in Rise qualifier divisions throughout the season. At season’s end, the #1 and #2 ranked athletes in each Rise weight class are invited to compete for the title. Rise Titles are awarded fresh each season and are not defended.
Exhibition Matches
Exhibition matches operate outside AVA’s title pathways and ranking system. They are offered through an open call to spotlight emerging and local athletes, with no prior participation in AVA events required to apply. Matchups are selected based on age, rank and weight. Placement points are not awarded, and these matches are not tied to any AVA titles.
