Important Announcement: AVA Season Structure Changes

September 13, 2024 AVA

We have some important updates following recent changes from the BC Athletic Commission, which no longer allows cash prizes for grappling events in British Columbia. In light of this, AVA has adapted and made some changes and additions.

Introducing Throne:
We are excited to announce Throne, the successor to last year’s AVA Pro Show. Throne will launch in 2025 and will invite the top 3 athletes from each Pro Division in the 2024 season to compete for cash prizes outside BC jurisdiction. The champions of each Pro division will hold titles and defend them against the number 1 ranked athlete in 2026 and beyond.

Due to lower participation in the Pro division this year, we are guaranteeing a $1,250 cash prize for 1st place winners in each Pro division along with the champion title belt.

Inclusive Match-Ups:
Throne will also feature superfights for kids, adults, and masters.

Here’s how the updated tournament and award structure works:

Regionals (1x points):

  • X-themed podium medals (gold, silver, bronze)

  • Top 3 team trophies (Youth, Adults, and Overall)

  • Pro X Champion Belt

Ultra (3x points):

  • Black hole-themed podium medals

  • Top 3 custom team trophies (Youth, Adults, and Overall)

  • Pro Ultra Champion Belt and Pro Ultra Champion Crown

Season:

  • #1 Team AVA Cup (with team and coach names)

  • Top 3 team plaques (Youth, Adults, and Overall)

  • Top 3 athletes certificates in each division

Throne:

  • Pro Champion Title Belt

  • $1,250 cash prize for each Pro winner
