Season 2022-23 AVA Submission Grappling Highlights

As the dust settles on the Season 2022-23, we take a moment to celebrate the excellence displayed across the board.

Overall Team goes to Zuma Martial Arts of Victoria Vancouver Island, marking an impressive score that crowned them as the season’s champions, On Guard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Maple Ridge in second place and Dallas O’Regan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Cochrane Alberta in third place.

Among the Top Adult Teams, where once again Zuma Martial Arts stood tall, with West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – Victoria in second place and Van Isle BJJ in third place. The Top Youths Teams saw On Guard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu taking the lead, with Dallas O’Regan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in second place and Ascension Martial Arts in third place.

In our very first Ultra Submission Grappling Championship event, West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – Victoria distinguished themselves as the Overall Team, with 10th Planet Vancouver in second place and Ascension Martial Arts in third place.

In the AVA Pro Show, Colton Scott from On Guard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu topped the GI Pro Male category, while Cholena Horne from West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – Victoria dominated by winning first in both the GI Pro Female and No-Gi Pro Female divisions. Reynaldo Camacho from 10th Planet Vancouver stood out in the No-Gi Pro Male division.

Throughout the 2022-23 AVA grappling season, the Pro divisions saw Colton Scott from On Guard Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu take the lead in the Gi Male category. In the No-Gi Male, Reynaldo Camacho from 10th Planet Vancouver emerged on top. Cholena Horne from West Coast Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association secured first place in both the Gi and No-Gi Female categories.

We’re honored by the success of our first AVA season and grateful to everyone who made it possible. We’re already gearing up to deliver an even more exciting experience in 2024. Thank you to all who contributed to this season’s success!
