Vancouver marked our second event of the year, and the results once again highlight how submissions define AVA competition.
The Pro/Throne Title Qualifier led the way with a 76.7% submission rate in regulation, demonstrating that high-level competitors prioritize finishing before overtime. Youth divisions had a 57.6% submission rate in regulation, slightly outperforming adults at 51.1%. Overall, 55.6% of matches ended in regulation, proving that more than half of all competitors secured a finish before overtime.
When matches did reach overtime, fastest escapes were more common than submissions, occurring in 20.7% of all matches, compared to 12.6% ending by submission in OT.
Referee decisions were exceptionally rare at just 0.2%, ensuring nearly all matches had clear outcomes. Disqualifications were also minimal, making up only 1.2% of all results.
9.7% of matches ended by walkover, primarily due to no-shows, last-minute withdrawals, or injuries preventing athletes from competing.
