AVA 2025 Eastern Statistics

October 14, 2025 AVA

Eastern delivered a solid finish rate, with a total submission rate of 55.3% across regulation and overtime. Youth No-Gi led the way with 70% submissions in regulation. Adults Gi and Youth Gi followed, tied at 54.5% in regulation, with Throne Gi next at 50%.

Looking by category, Youth produced the most submissions overall, followed by Adults, then Throne Qualifiers. Throne Qualifier turnout was lighter in this new region, and many athletes may not yet understand how the division contributes to season ranking points and title opportunities. This likely led to more cautious pacing and fewer finishes. We also saw a higher rate of referee decisions at 4.3% compared to our typical figure under 1%. That bump likely reflects two factors in Ontario: lower familiarity with the AVA ruleset and athletes not consistently chasing the finish during regulation. There were no entries in the RISE Elite Youth divisions, and there were no disqualifications across the tournament.

As local athletes and coaches adjust to AVA scoring and sub-only pacing, we expect regulation finishes to rise and decisions to return to our usual low baseline.
