AVA Saskatoon 2026 Statistics
April 3, 2026 AVA

Saskatoon made its AVA debut and wasted no time making an impression. With a 74.3% submission rate across regulation and overtime, they didn’t just meet the bar set by British Columbia — they cleared it. For a first-time event, that is a significant result.
The Throne Qualifiers were the standout of the day. Both Gi and No-Gi divisions finished at a perfect 100% submission in regulation, meaning every match ended with a tap. No close calls, no referee decisions, no overtime. Rise Qualifiers backed that up with No-Gi at 82.4% and an overall rate of 64.7%.
Across the other categories, No-Gi adults led at 77.4% in regulation with Gi adults at 54.8%, while youth followed closely at 51.3% for Gi and 48.5% for No-Gi. Adults finished ahead of youth overall at 69.0% compared to 50.0%, a notable shift from the usual pattern where youth tend to carry the higher finish rate.
Referee decisions came in at 0.4%, the lowest figure recorded this season yet.
No-Gi produced higher finish rates across every age group, while Gi trended toward longer matches and overtime.
AVA’s format resonated with the Saskatoon community, and the numbers suggest there is an appetite in Saskatchewan to hunt for the finish.
