AVA Washington 2026 Statistics
May 26, 2026 AVA

Washington returned for its first event of the 2026 season and crossed the 80% mark, a first for the season. With a combined submission rate of 82.0% across regulation and overtime and 69.8% in regulation alone, it is the highest submission rate of the year by a significant margin.
Throne qualifiers led all divisions with a perfect 100% in Gi and 66.7% in No-Gi, combining for 83.3% overall in regulation. Adults followed at 72.8%, and when matches extended into overtime, submissions and escapes came in at an equal rate. Youth came in at 63.5% in regulation, and unlike Canadian events where overtime typically favors the escape, Washington youth submitted their opponents more often than they escaped in overtime.
Referee decisions came in at 1.4%, consistent with AVA’s standard.
What stands out when comparing Washington to its Canadian counterparts is a clear shift in pattern. Adults outfinished youth in regulation, overtime submissions matched or outpaced escapes across divisions, and the finishing intent held from the first match to the last. Washington competitors have a strong command of the AVA ruleset and they thrive in it.
Washington came back and set a very high standard for the second half of the season.
